Today, Chief Railway Safety Commissioner Janak Kumar Garg conducted an inspection of the newly constructed Beleghata to Hemant Mukhopadhyay section of the Orange Line. This inspection holds significant importance as the approval from CCRS is essential for the commissioning of the Hemant Mukhopadhyay to Beleghata section of the Orange Line. Currently, metro services are operational on the Kavi Subhash to Hemant Mukhopadhyay section of this corridor, making the completion and approval of the remaining stretch crucial for enhanced connectivity.
During the inspection, Shri Garg meticulously examined various aspects of the infrastructure, including entry and exit gates, ticketing systems, escalators, lifts, signage boards, fire detection and suppression systems, as well as passenger amenities at stations such as Beleghata, Barun Sengupta, Ritwik Ghatak, and VIP Bazar. Additionally, Shri Garg held a high-level meeting with officials from Metro Railways and Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) to discuss further steps and ensure the smooth functioning of the Orange Line extension. Starting the inspection from Beleghata Metro station, Shri Garg thoroughly scrutinized the track, viaduct, girders, and ramps, underscoring the meticulous attention to detail in the project's execution and safety measures.
